Frequently Asked Questions
Our streamlined crowler sealing process delivers fresh, brewery-quality beer to your customers in just about 60 seconds:
- Purging: A clean, empty 32-oz aluminum can is thoroughly purged with CO₂ using our CO2 Purge Tower system to eliminate ambient oxygen. This essential step prevents oxidation, ensuring your beer retains its intended flavor and freshness.
- Filling: The can is gently filled to the brim with your freshly poured draft beer, using a bottom-up hose to minimize foaming and preserve carbonation. Our process maximizes both pour quality and efficiency.
- Capping: An aluminum pop-top or resealable lid is securely placed on the filled can, readying it for a tight, protective seal.
- Seaming: The capped can is placed into the can seamer. As the machine spins, precision rollers crimp and fold the aluminum rim twice, creating an airtight, hermetic double-seam that locks in freshness and guarantees a leak-proof seal.
Our crowler cans are available in sizes from 25.4 oz to 32 oz, with the standard size being 32 oz.
Orders have ranged from as few as 98 cans to over 108 per box, and we can accommodate half-pallet (1200 cans) or full-pallet (2400 cans) quantities for maximum flexibility.
How long a crowler can last depends on how it was filled.
- Counter-Pressure Fill Stations: Maintain freshness for up to 30 days.
- CO₂ Purge Tower Stations: Maintains freshness for 7 to 10 days.
Please note that crowlers should be consumed within two to three days after opening.
The best crowler sealer for your business depends on your exact needs. Direct-drive can sealers are semi-automatic, making them better for high-volume bars and taprooms. They can handle cans between 25.4 oz and 32 oz and have a clear plastic shroud that protects the rollers.
On the other hand, clutch-drive sealers are ideal for small batches or when you're on a budget. They can fit standard 25.4 oz to 32 oz cans but require manual operation.
For smaller cans, we offer the ELS202A seamer, specifically designed for 12 to 16 oz sizes. This model delivers reliable, high-quality seams for your smaller format cans.
Maintaining a crowler sealer requires regular inspection and cleaning. Generally speaking, you should lubricate seals and keep moving parts free from sticky residue. If your system stops working, we're happy to offer troubleshooting services.
When pricing crowler products, be sure to account for all associated costs, including cans, lids, labor, and equipment, while maintaining a balance between strong ROI and customer affordability.
Our labelers work via either manual or weighted wheel rolling. First, cans are laid horizontally into the labeler bed. In automated systems, the weighted wheel then applies consistent downward pressure that sticks the label on without crushing the can. In manual systems, you need to rotate the machine smoothly for a successful application.
For our machines, label rolls must be 3" core and accommodate labels up to 6-1/2" wide.
